Paint and tile prep in progress

Our family has stayed busy with (heart)work through the holidays! I’m taking advantage of some incredible time out of the office to really soak up this process with our kids. Our 4-year-old son and 2.5-year-old daughter have loved every minute of having the heart on our farm. Mornings are packed with “let’s go check on the heart” requests and we can’t seem to keep our eyes off of it. It’s still pretty surreal to see such an epic artwork sitting in the middle of our basement.

Our first run of paint and tile prep included covering the frame with gold chalk paint. We also primed the messages from women-owned businesses with a bit of white to help see my sketch lines for the tiles. The base will eventually be gold as well, but for now, we’re going to go ahead and assume that drips and clay crumbles are going to need to be cleaned up before we can paint that part!

Progress is progress, but it feels like we’re already a little behind. Getting running on the tile will be the true test. If it goes fast, we’re in luck. If not…well…
